Professionnal Training Contract as Unity Programmer

Context
At Nereid Games, I worked under a Professional Training Contract for one year, from September 2021 to August 2022.
Nereid was a small studio focused on hyper-casual mobile games, with a core team of about five people, mostly programmers, working toward our ambitious goal of producing one prototype per week.
We collaborated with major publishers such as Voodoo, Ketchapp, Supersonic, and Homa Games to test our KPIs.
If a prototype met the target metrics, we continued developing it further; if not, we quickly moved on to the next idea.
Tech

My Work
During my time at Nereid, I contributed to around 20 prototypes.
When I joined, the studio was developing an internal SDK designed to speed up the prototyping process. This SDK included a custom framework that allowed us to easily integrate third-party SDKs used by publishers to track KPIs. With a single click, we could link game events directly to an editor’s SDK.
We applied the same “one-click workflow” philosophy to our prototype templates. For example, to start a new runner project, a developer simply clicked the Runner button, and the full Unity template was downloaded and ready to go. This approach allowed developers to focus entirely on gameplay and innovation rather than setup.
Some features I work on:
- Object Cutting
- Crowd Control
- Dynamic Mesh Modeling
Conclusion
It was an incredibly rewarding and educational year at Nereid, building fast prototypes, collaborating with publishers, and learning to iterate efficiently. Special thanks to Meddy and Mark for their trust, and to “Old Julien” for all his valuable advice!
